Shabbaton in Lawrence, NY

EndtheMadness proudly announces its fourth Shabbaton, on Tu b'Av weekend...

WHEN: Shabbos weekend, August 19-20
WHERE: Congregation Beth Sholom, Lawrence, NY
AGE RANGE: Up to 30 years old

COST: $25 per person

This Shabbaton will follow the same format of the very successful ETM Shabbatons that were held in Stamford, CT, West Hempstead, NY, and Teaneck, NJ this past year. The program will be integrated into the regular Shabbos activities at the shul. Attendees will eat Shabbos meals in groups of six (three males and three females) at the homes of hosts in the community, creating a more relaxed and enjoyable weekend.

On Shabbos afternoon, there will be some rest time, a walk to a local park, shiur and intercative discussion at the shul, followed by mincha, shalosh seudot, and maariv.

We are also planning another great Motzei Shabbos activity, to be announced soon.

Lawrence is a very hospitable community, and the members of the shul are eager to participate in this program.

The Shabbaton will be strictly limited to an exclusive group of great Orthodox singles, who will be carefully screened beforehand. Once we hit the limit, we will be forced to turn away reservations, which must be prepaid to guarantee a spot. Many attendees of our three previous Shabbatons have already signed up

To place a reservation, please contact Batya at SALK1111@aol.com

Also, if you or your family live within walking distance of Congregation Beth Sholom and would like to host a meal or host singles to sleep over, please contact Batya.

World's Largest Kosher Tailgate Party II

Last summer ETM held the World's Largest Tailgate Party at Shea Stadium on Jewish Heritage Day, and this year it's going to be even bigger!

Once again we've arranged for a special group rate on great seats to the game (Upper Reserved right behind home plate), and this year's tailgate party will be catered by Burger Nosh of Kew Gardens Hills. For only $18 you get a ticket to the game in the EndTheMadness block of seats, your choice of a Big Nosh hamburger and fries or a Snack Box of fried chicken and fries, lots of other goodies to help wash it all down, and more. Jewish Heritage Day at Shea Stadium typically features a concert by a major Jewish performer and a special giveaway for fans. Did I mention that the cost for EVERYTHING is only $18?

It also turns out that this year's tailgate party falls out the weekend of Tu B'av. (We're also trying to arrange with the Mets to still be in contention on August 21, but found it easier to tinker with the calendar...)

If you'd like to make a reservation to this event, please contact Chananya at admin@endthemadness.org. Tickets are limited, and once we're sold out you're on your own. Don't miss out!

Arts Festival and Talent Search

We're pleased to announce our second Amateur and Semi-Pro Jewish Talent Search on Thursday, August 25 at 6:30 PM. The location is Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun, 125 East 85th St.

Think you've got some talent? Something interesting to share?

Join us for this sophisticated, yet casual event, where a wide array of creative Jewish talent will be on display. Genres may include poetry, fiction, music, stand-up comedy, artwork, magic...who knows what else?

If you've got a book, CD, or act to promote, this is a perfect venue. If you're looking for an audience to share your creative work with, this is your chance. If you're Jewish and creative, or even if you're Jewish and appreciate creativity in others, this is something you don't want to miss.

This event is open to singles and married people of all ages. A great night out at the end of summer and an exciting conclusion to this special Week of EndTheMadness!

Admission is only $7 (pay at the door), and includes pizza and other refreshments.

Reservations are not required, but if you'd like to present material you MUST contact Chananya at admin@endthemadness.org for more details. Time slots for presentations are very limited!

In addition, all material MUST be g-rated! To be more specific, work that contains even mild obscenities or sexual suggestiveness is not invited. If you think we're prudish -- hey, you're in Manhattan, and don't have to travel far to find whatever it is you're looking for. There is plenty of room to be creative without delving into sordidness, and, regardless of how you feel about this issue, that's the policy.

We hope to see you there!
